On May 15, 2012, Blizzard introduced the world to Diablo 3, the latest in its series of Diablo games. As with any game, private servers have cropped up here and there, although Diablo 3 has seen fewer private servers than most games. GTOPList.com, which lists and ranks game servers, only has two listed (http://gtoplist.com/Diablo/) and searching them up on Google turns up very little information.
This is perhaps due to the bugginess of Diablo 3. Even Blizzard had problems with it when it first came out. Players reported problems especially with logging in, and "error 37" became a commonly-known phrase, referring to the error most often seen by players attempting to log in. As a result, private servers often turn out a few bugs as well, making it difficult to run a server.
However, there are a few servers that have persevered through the bugs and managed to get the game going. 4Vendeta (http://diablo.4vendeta.com/) seems to be the best. They run version 8815 and provide fairly regular maintenance. At the time of this writing, they have 100 people on, with a maximum capacity of 5,000. In fact, this European-based server is the only server that turns up in any kind of search. This is also not one of the two listed in GTOPList. Having explored their website, 4Vendeta is very professional about implementing and maintaining the game. Granted, they do wipe the server (so you lose your toons) on certain occasions, but their familiarity with Blizzard's work facilitates the running of the server and makes it smoother.
So while Diablo 3 private servers are few and far between, they are out there to be found. Top lists are a good place to go to find them because they not only provide the information about the server, they often also rank it against other servers based on input from the players. Searches, such as Google, will turn up information as well. Even Blizzard themselves have a private Diablo 3 server for European players. It's not an impossible search, so don't give up!
