The goal is to score the most point by surviving as long as possible. Dodge meteors and enemy shots, while destroying enemies and accumulating various bonuses. The more points you have, the harder it is to play. There are bonuses which reduce the strength of the spacecraft and recruiting Allied ships that will help you until you cut into a meteorite, or avoid being destroyed by enemy fire. You can also earn money during the game for the destruction of enemy ships, and earn a special bonus which falls out of the meteorite that has a probability of 4/10 of exploding. With the money you can improve your ship by increasing the rate of fire, increasing damage done by each shot and the strength of the ship. There's also an "Extreme Mode," which doubles the complexity of the game.
